Katrina Bickford
Katrina has a long history of building things, starting with building a family, raising four children together with husband Peter. After five years as a Volunteer EMT in Westport Connecticut she oversaw the design and GC’d the construction of their own home, and was also in charge of the renovation of their community church. With a certificate of landscape design from New York Botanical Garden she ran her own landscape design business for five years. Subsequently she spent 13 years as Area Developer and Master Franchisee for Connecticut and New York with a national smoothie chain, culminating in 14 stores in her region. She has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Bridgeport Connecticut. Katrina and Peter have a home on Vieques and she is on the board of the Vieques Conservation Historical Trust. She is deeply committed to helping her Viequense community recover from hurricanes Irma and Maria and build resilience for future events.

Karen Fabian
Karen’s adult professional career is in advertising and marketing. Her service path began in her teens. Throughout her teenage years she dedicated herself to various projects – such as building a hospital and teaching English in the sugarcane fields of Haiti. Karen took time out of her career to bring food and comfort to the people of Dade County after Hurricane Andrew devastated Florida. Closer to home she worked with Habitat for Humanity and worked with students at Special Olympic events, leading their volunteer efforts by example. Recently she has supported the efforts of Safe Havens whose mission is to support and guide families as they strive to build independent lives. Throwing a Halloween Party in July for the current residents at the shelter was both fun and satisfying.
